Al Khor Tower

   Al Khor Towers is a group consisting of three towers that protected the entrance to the historical city of Al Khor for fishing and pearls.

   The watch and defense towers of Al Khor City are located on the old port. They were used to control ships and protect the entrance to the well of Ain Hliitan, which formed the main source of water and made life possible in the city of Al Khor.

   The port city flourished in the early twentieth century as an important center for fishing and pearling.

   The three towers share a cylindrical shape and are standing along the coast with thick stone walls. The guards were standing on a balcony-like platform that could be accessed only by climbing the outer walls with the help of a rope.
